about

In the hills and valleys of Western Pennsylvania, there exists a small town along the Ohio River. Derelict and barren, Ambridge was once a thriving town of 20,000. Now less than half of the population remains after the collapse of the steel industry in the 1970s/80s. The immigrants that settled here during the town's creation largely came from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Family, food, faith, honesty, and hard work were essential to their daily lives. Life became more difficult for their descendants who stayed, hoping to see their town regain its strength and vitality that it once had. This is evidenced in those very same people - an intangible and complex asset that outsiders struggle to understand in these troubled times. This album is a love letter to those and all others who continue to strive and work hard for a better day.

"These stories are specific to one legendary riverfront plateau and one boy's journey, but are emblematic of immigrant life and blue-collar aspirations during the heyday of American industry and its crash, foreshadowing one of the largest internal migrations in U.S. history. Approximately six million baby boomers ... fled the Rust Belt. Another six million remained and stories of their youth, struggles, and aspirations echo throughout..." - Rust Belt Boy: Stories of an American Childhood by Paul Hertneky
